Give your heart to women’s health. Together we can provide health education and screening services to underserved women.
The Adelphi NY Statewide Breast Cancer Hotline and Support Program was founded in 1980 and was the first of its kind in New York State exclusively addressing the psychosocial issues associated with breast cancer. The Hotline is staffed by professionally trained and supervised volunteers; most are breast cancer survivors. Social workers offer professional counseling, support groups and educational programs for the community. At local hospitals, bilingual social work services, patient navigation and referrals are provided to guide underserved patients diagnosed with breast cancer. Sisters United in Health/Hermanas Unidas en la Salud or “Sisters,” a project of the Adelphi Breast Cancer Program, provides bilingual outreach, breast health education and access to free or low-cost lifesaving screening services to underserved women.
In March, we learned our Sisters grant funding had been significantly reduced. We need your help to continue providing health education, help women navigate the complexities of healthcare systems and provide referrals for cancer screenings in New York.
Support Sisters United in Health with a tax-deductible contribution. Every dollar counts and will go towards the following:
o $10 for outreach at community health fairs
o $25 for a gift card for an underserved woman after completing a mammogram
o $50 for a health education workshop to be provided in the community
o $100 for patient navigation to ensure women complete breast cancer screenings
o $250 for patient navigation for a woman diagnosed with breast cancer
